Located 50km to the north of Hanoi capital, Bac Giang province borders Lang Son province in the north, Quang Ninh province in the east, Thai Nguyen province and Hanoi in the west and Bac Ninh and Hai Duong provinces in the south. Covering some 3,840 square kilometers, the province has a population of more than 1.6 million people (by the end of 2014) and is home to 21 ethnic groups with Kinh (Viet) being the most populous, followed by Nung and Tay. It has a provincial city with the same name and nine districts (Hiep Hoa, Luc Nam, Luc Ngan, Yen Dung, Lang Giang, Son Dong, Tan Yen, Viet Yen and Yen The).
Bac Giang province lies in the Nanning (China) - Lang Son - Hanoi - Hai Phong economic corridor and is adjacent to the northern key economic region covering Hanoi, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh. The province is covered by the Hanoi regional construction master plan through 2030, with a vision to 2050.
Bac Giang is to date home to six industrial parks (IPs) covering a total area of almost 1,200 hectares, namely Dinh Tram, Quang Chau, Song Khe, Van Trung, Viet Han, Chau Minh-Mai Dinh, and 32 industrial clusters. It has planned the construction of nine IPs occupying 3,500 hectares to welcome investors.
In order to continue attracting selective and focused investment, Bac Giang province has defined the key areas to lure investment.
The dynamic zone is the key concentrated place to call for investment in industrial and service development. This zone is located along the National Highway no1 and Bac Giang city including the industrial parks of Quang Chau, Song Khe - Noi Hoang, Vietnam- Korea, S & G, Yen Lu industrial- urban and service complex and established industrial clusters such as Hoang Mai, Tien Hung, Tang Tien, Viet Tien, logistics center, entertainment and leisure areas, trading center, hotels and finance and banking services.
The western zone is given priority to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) in such fields as mechanics, electronics, supporting industrial projects and the projects of agricultural and forestry processing and supporting industries while attracting garment projects in Ha Thinh industrial cluster.
The Northeastern zone has advantages in agricultural and forestry production with ecological and spiritual highlights.
This zone is orientated to attract projects in plantation and livestock and mineral exploitation, building resorts to create the value chain in tourism development and other projects to create jobs for local people contributing to economic restructuring. In addition, it calls for agricultural and forestry processing projects in the established and planned industrial clusters while developing the wind power projects in favorable locations like Son Dong and Luc Nam.
Accordingly, the province has also paid attention to the development of infrastructure and upgrade of existing urban areas, creating a synchronous link between the new and current ones.It also asked contractors to accelerate the implementation and ensure progress of projects on urban and residential area development.In addition, investors are encouraged to improve living standard for residents of those areas by using new construction materials, growing more trees and planning areas for physical activities.
Bac Giang has also enhanced monitoring and supervision to address difficulties during project implementation, as well as strictly handled violation cases and revoked projects that fall short of financial sources.
